Description

Many companies use late summer bancha green tea to make hojicha, but our Hojicha is made using a higher grade of Kukicha from earlier harvests. We use a high-temperature roasting process to turn this tea a rich toasty brown, bringing out a rich aroma and flavor. Sugimoto's favorite Hojicha has a natural sweetness and a body-warming, roasted aroma, making this is a lovely, very low-caffeine evening treat that can be steeped multiple times. Packaged in a resealable foil pouch, your tea will be kept fresh for months of daily enjoyment. Packaged in a resealable foil pouch, your tea will be kept fresh for months of daily enjoyment. There are 20 soilon compostable pyramid tea bags per pouch. Each tea bag is good for a 12 oz cup of tea.

*Our teabags are made from Soilon, a plant-based, biodegradable material.

Hojicha Tea

During a recent trip to Japan this Fall, I fell in love with Hojicha Tea(roasted green tea). Luckily, SugiMotoTea distributes in the US and it is just as good, if not better than what I drank. It is also very fragrant.

This tea is really delicious!! I’ve always enjoyed the roasted green teas but this one is especially good! Even with oat milk in the morning. A great change from black tea and coffee.

Beautiful Hojicha!

I recently rediscovered how much I love Hojicha and was excited to find Sugimoto. My order arrived earlier today and I brewed my first cup of Hojicha since 2003. The quality of this tea is obvious. It has such a deeply satisfying taste and the aroma brings back comforting memories of time spent in tea houses in Japan and South Korea. I have a very low tolerance for caffeine and this tea gave me no problems. I am thrilled and will be enjoying another cup very soon...thank you, Sugimoto!
